Boodles
In 1798 two famous at that time jewelers, who had worked separately before, decided to combine their efforts and knowledge to create an international jewelry brand. Liverpool Budlom and Dunthorne were not newcomers, so the company immediately became profitable and recognizable in England and abroad.
In 1910, the Wenright family took over the management of the brand and bought the production and all the patented technologies from the partners. The company reached a new level: in 1926 they opened their own office in London’s Lord Street.
The hardest years of the brand are the post-war years. In 1945, two of the owners die at once: Henry and his son Herbert Wenwright. The management of the company is headed by the second son Anthony, who returned to England with the rank of captain.
The Boodles brand works with Queen Elizabeth herself in 1947. It was the company’s craftsmen who made a silver wedding cake stand for her. After that the fame of the brand spreads at the speed of sound, new stores are opened and private orders come in.
English chic
The decorations of the Boodles brand are classics to the bone. Everything is predictable here, but for this reason it is no less valuable and attractive: flowing lines, traditional color combinations in stones, and the use of gold and platinum in the manufacture of jewelry.
In addition to jewelry the brand is engaged in manufacturing of precious souvenirs. Chess sets Boodles became famous. They are scaled-down copies of chess made of platinum, gold, diamonds and pearls. The whole 748 precious stones are used on the chessboard and figurines! Also surprising is the “tea bag”, an amazing souvenir made of 280 diamonds, the value of which exceeds 14 thousand dollars.
Jewelers of the brand also made posthumous jewelry for Princess Diana, today they are recognized as the official jewelry company “serving” the House of Windsor and the most revered jewelry house in the Old World and all over Europe.
Staying true to tradition
Today, just as two centuries ago, the Boodles are a family business. In practice this means that the quality of the pieces is improving every year, the brand is gaining more and more credibility, and new stores have been opened. The first international boutique was opened in 2006 in Dublin, and there are a lot of stores in England, the home of the brand.
The company is still run by the Wenrights. One collection after another comes out, almost every year there is an updating of the old models beloved by the customers. The brand is like ripe apples gathering the fruits of its labors: awards and places of honor in various contests of the jewelry industry.
Behind this success lies many years of work, high quality of each ring or necklace, earrings and bracelets, preserving traditions and implementing new jewelry techniques. The Boodles brand is one of the oldest brands today.
