Breguet
The blood of its founding innovator runs in its veins: the company is known for its love of horological complications (functions other than directly measuring hours, minutes and seconds) and is no less famous for its exquisite collections, each one decorated with gems and diamonds, a true work of art and a feat of jewelry design.
The company was founded in 1775 by virtuoso watchmaker and inventor of the tourbillon, a special type of escapement, Abraham-Louis Breguet, and since then Breguet has been one of the grand titans among luxury watchmakers.
As you might have guessed, Breguet has no shortage of famous clients and patrons: among them were, for example, Marie Antoinette, Napoleon Bonaparte and his youngest sister Caroline Bonaparte, French politician and master of political intrigue Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord, Sultan Selim III of the Ottoman Empire, Emperor Alexander I, Queen Victoria and Sir Winston Churchill.
