Tamsen Z
Ann Ziff founded the Tamsen Z jewelry brand. Her mother was the famous American opera singer Harriet Henders. She was a prominent woman, wearing exceptionally high quality unique jewelry. Ann inherited her good taste and passion for bright gems from her mother.
Later, when she married William B. Ziff, Jr. she began buying and collecting rare stones and unique jewelry. In her exclusive collection appear truly rare items: Colombian emeralds, Australian black opals, tourmalines. Over time, Ann’s collection becomes one of the most complete in the world.
But Ann could not simply admire the beauty of rare stones. And so the idea of organizing a jewelry workshop to produce jewelry with the rarest minerals, striking beauty and sophistication. And the painstaking daily work begins: Ann independently develops sketches, chooses stones, creates masterpieces.
But Ann’s work doesn’t stop there: she is a philanthropist, chairing the Metropolitan Opera, serving as vice-chair of Lincoln Center and as an artist for the Tribe Foundation. And today Ann has not abandoned her social work: she serves on the board of the American Museum of Natural History, is involved in organizing the World Science Festival and in the New York City Restoration Project.
Jewelry from another universe
All items of Tamsen Z brand are not just everyday jewelry, but something more, breathtaking, with a special history and meaning. Large rings with huge stones of blue shades of blue as if they store a part of the universe or the starry sky. The unique engraving of the biggest single stone in the ring is a highlight of many collections. Ann knows a lot about stones – she chooses them with great taste and, despite the seeming artfulness, they look very natural and organic.
The master often uses small colorful beads for decoration in her creations. Remarkably, Ann does not strive to give the stones a perfectly flat shape and surface. In many products the minerals have an uneven original form that only adds a special charm to rings, pendants and earrings.
Gem-less jewelry
Gem-less jewelry is distinguished by its elaborate detailing and fine professional chasing. Particularly striking pieces are those in the “bird” collection: finely crafted feathers and exotic birds. Wide bracelets made of gold plate with round holes through the whole surface are striking for their laconism and seeming simplicity.
In general, geometric shapes are often found in the series of Tamsen Z products. Massive triangular pendants, rectangular cufflinks, round earrings – such jewelry will suit a confident, brave woman who does not want to seem too bright, but does not forget to accentuate her individuality.
Animal motifs are also present in many series: turtles with shells studded with small stones, rhinoceroses seemingly standing on the ball (a large oval stone), snakes wriggling and even fish skeletons. The variety is just impossible to list, which is why the brand has earned popularity in different countries.
